Marine Birthday Ball

Last Thursday night Alex and I were off to the Mals-29 Birthday Ball. It was a bit of a drive to get down to Wilmington but it was worth it. The ball was at the Wilmington Hilton which was absolutely gorgeous. The town itself was surprisingly nice, cobblestone streets, huge trees lining the streets with Spanish Moss. We'll definitely have to go back to spend a weekend there in the Spring.

The ball started off with an opening ceremony and a birthday speech. Two Marines then cut a huge birthday cake with swords! Im putting that on my Christmas list - could be very helpful cutting things !! After the ceremony, dinner was served. Both of us had some sort of chicken breaded and shaped into a ball and jammed with mushrooms. It was iffy..

Overall the ball was very nice, I got to meet all his coworkers and we all had a great time.

No we are not completely nuts..

Both Alex and I love Halloween so much that we went out the day after and bought us some clearence costumes! "Father" Alex claims he would love to be in high school still because he would love to wear this outfit to school. Even if he was still in high school... I would not allow that.

Our New Dog

Yesterday we adopted a little dog from a family who was moving and wouldnt be able to keep him. Hes a 1 year old "beagle" but he really looks like a small black lab! Hes named P-nut (strangely, my Peanut the Hamster has the same coloring!) and hes very shy, but hopefully he'll come out of his shell.

Coastal Plains Raceway

Saturday night, Alex and I decided to go full out Redneck and go see a stockcar race down at the raceway. It was something new so I was up for it.

When we got there we saw the practice laps and I discovered that stock cars werent racecars... well in a way. Theyre just normal cars (Monte Carlos, Sunfires, and Cameros) with ugly paint jobs. The cars were divided up into classes and we saw all the pre-qual laps for all the classes.

By then it was way past sunset and sitting up on the bleachers where it was windy and we knew we wouldnt be staying too much longer. After a while you know whats going to happen anyway. All in all it was a fun evening and something new to us.

All he wants for Christmas is his 4 back teeth...

So much has happened since the last update!

First of all, I did get the job at Equine Country. And today was my first day. I only worked 7-1 but it was great. I got to do a 2 hour trail ride to learn some of the trails, feed 45 horses, and clean the party grounds for the Onslow County Republican Party's meeting. I love it and the fact that Im being paid to ride a horse.

In other news, Alex had his 4 wisdom teeth out on Thursday...(and lost all his wisdom!!) After a very groggy and bloody car ride home, I got him into bed and made him relax for an hour or so.

I went about my day doing my usual when about an hour later he was out of bed and gathering cardboard boxes to burn!!! I did a double take and was completely surprised since I had planned that he would be out of it for a few days. Later that night he even wanted to go shopping at the mall!

Friday was our day off!!!! We slept in nice and late and since it was so gorgeous, we decided to stretch our legs and walk around the park. We made it about halfway around the park when we got distracted by the playground! Still kids at heart.

Came home and decided to go on a date. We came up with bowling and dinner. Bowling went... well. My first game was rough, meaning Alex almost won! But eventually I had a nice average over the three games. After bowling we went to TGI Fridays and had a great appetizer of Spinach and Artichoke dip and a great dinner. Two days after getting his teeth out and he was eating a massive burger and fries!

Equine Country Interview

Just got the call that I have an interview tonight at Equine Country just down the street. Hopefully all goes well and I get the job!

Alex and I decided to become entrepreneuers yesterday and tried our luck at selling two items on Ebay. After work we went over to the antique store and spent $20 on two items. If we can make some money off inexpensive antiques - why not?

In other news, a cockroach the size of a mouse was wandering the kitchen when I woke up this morning.... I think this was the last straw and an exterminator is needed!!!!!

Ill update later with the results from the interview.

Onslow County Fair

Last night, we decided to check out the Onslow County Fair. It turned out to be a great night! For $6 we were able to get in and get the armband to ride unlimited rides all night! Alex practiced his driving in bumper cars while I attempted to do bullriding... I lasted about 20 seconds on slow and 3 seconds on medium.

We went on a few rides where we were almost puking and had trouble walking. I cut myself off from thoes and let Alex continue on the puke tour.

We had a romantic ride on the ferris wheel and had a great view of the entire fair. Everything was lit up and looked great. We took a break and had some massive corn dogs ( I tried to sneak a bite of Alex's but he noticed!) After our snack we had one thing left to see.. the Gorilla Girl. Supposedly, she transformed from girl to gorilla in front of your face, something we just had to see! She did transform and both of us are ashamed to say that we're still baffled! So for $6, we were able to get some Southern culture and had a great night.
